I recently treated myself to a Colourpop liquid lipstick in the colour ‘zipper’. I got it from eBay so I’m not 100% sure if it’s real or fake but it was from an English seller and she only had one of them (ie it wasn’t a bulk buy and sell). Here’s my honest review!
The packaging is nice and I can’t see anything wrong with it. I love the shiny letters and the fact there’s a 3D pattern on it – it’s not just a printed flat box. This makes me think it’s a real Colourpop lipstick rather than a fake.
The actual lipstick packaging is simple, but Colourpop is a budget brand (the lipsticks sell for $6.50 in the US) so I wasn’t expecting much. The silver is chipping slightly at the lid and a couple of the letters are chipped as well. The text is all holographic, though! #holosexual!
The applicator is a standard doe foot and is fairly small, meaning you can get to smaller areas of your lips easily. The wand is clean, which means the stopper is doing its job!
The colour is so vibrant and not something I’d usually go for, but I wanted to step out of my comfort zone. It applies really nicely and is a gorgeous colour on my hand. However, after it dried it looked really patchy! So it’s not a one-coat wonder…
After about five minutes, I did the smudge test:
As you can see, it smudged pretty much all of the lipstick. Not good. I need a lipstick with staying power!
This is what it looks like on the lips (with 2 coats)…
And this is what it looks like after eating lunch (a cheese and ham sandwich with a drink)…
All-in-all, I think I might purchase another Colourpop lipstick as I’m not entirely sure if it’s a real one or not. I’d go for a more neutral shade next time! I don’t think I’ll wear this one often, mostly because it doesn’t have any staying power but also because it dries patchy and you can’t just do one coat and leave it. I like my makeup to be easy! I do like the colour, though and the packaging is nice for the price.
Hope you enjoyed this review. I’m still undecided, so let me know what you think! ❤
