COLLECTIVE MAKEUP HAUL – AUGUST 2017

I buy a lot of makeup each month, and this haul is no exception. I managed to grab a few bargains from Illamasqua, TAMBeauty and Superdrug, so grab a cuppa and settle in for a fairly hefty haul!

Disclaimer – all my income (after bills) goes on makeup, which is why I’m able to get a lot each month. I don’t get anything for free! Links are affiliated!

L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara, £9.99 – the US YouTuber fave finally arrived in the UK and I picked it up straight away! I actually reviewed this and compared it to the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara over on my YouTube channel, have a look here. Buy here and here.

Illamasqua Radiance Veil, £10.20 – Yes, you read that right! The radiance veil was on sale for just over a tenner on Illamasqua’s website, but it’s all back up to £34 now unfortunately. It’s a nice primer and definitely adds radiance but be careful otherwise you’ll end up looking like C3PO. Buy here.

W7 Glocomotion Pink It Up Highlighter, £3.99 – W7 released a sister to their popular Glocomotion highlight (which I also own) and made it pink, so of course I had to grab it from my local Beauty Outlet. It’s very pretty and isn’t too dark for me, which I was worried about.

Nyx Full Coverage Concealer in ‘Alabaster’, £6 – I got the shade Alabaster, which is my Nyx foundation shade but I was surprised to find that it was very yellow rather than neutral-pink; almost looking more like a colour corrector or a neutraliser. It’s good for hiding my under-eye dark circles but not as good for normal concealing. Buy here.

The Ordinary High Spreadability Fluid Primer, £5.70 – This primer is something that’s been on my list to try since it released. The Ordinary’s skincare is pretty amazing and I thought the primer might be the same. I’ve only used it once, but I enjoyed it immensely!

MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in ‘Elegance’, £3 – I’ve been wanting to try one of the 30 shades of MUA lip lacquers for quite a while and I decided to try this purple-y brown shade as it looked so pretty swatched on my hand. I do think that this is more of a winter colour rather than summer or autumn, though. Buy here.

MUA Matte Feather Light Palette, £5 – In last month’s haul, you might have seen that I picked up the Fire Vixen palette by MUA, which I enjoyed so much. I then went straight back to Superdrug to get another palette, this time a more neutral one which I can use every day. The formula is so nice for so cheap! Buy here.

Freedom Camouflage Concealer in ‘CF02’, £2.50 – This concealer is nice and pink in the pot but seems to appear more orange on the skin, which is very confusing and a little disappointing. It’s quite a thin consistency when used with a finger so I might try a brush next. Strange. Buy here and here.

Freedom Brow Powder in ‘Caramel Brown’, £2 – This is a duo brow powder for those ombre brows, but despite the swatches looking like the perfect colour, this is slightly too light for me! I suit more of the auburn shade, but I can use this for more natural brows. Buy here and here.

Freedom Contour Kit in ‘Fair’, £3.50 – Despite being cool-toned, this contour shade isn’t grey enough for me to contour with, so it does look slightly strange when I use it but I’m going to try it out a few more times before I come to a final conclusion. Buy here and here.

Freedom Pressed Powder in ‘Translucent’, £1 – I don’t think I can really describe this powder as translucent, as it did give me a slight tinge of colour when I used it. However I have only used it once over one foundation so I need to use it more to see if it was just a reaction with that one foundation. It set everything well and was nice to use, though! Buy here.

Freedom Eye Foils in ‘Burnt’ and ‘Matte Bare’, £5 each – These single Freedom shadows work out as just £1 each! I quite like them but they aren’t the most pigmented shadows in the world. They blend okay and would be okay for beginners but I’m thinking about investing in Makeup Geek instead. Buy here and here.

Freedom Bronzed Professional Bronzer in ‘Warm Lights’, £2 – I love bronzer and was intrigued by this one as it’s split into three – a light powder, a bronzer and one that fits in the middle. I’ve been using the two darker shades together for bronzing, the darkest shade on its own for contouring and the lighter one as powder, or all three together for something super subtle. Buy here and here.

Freedom Eye Blending Brush, £2 – I really enjoyed the Freedom Eye Contour Brush, so decided to pick up another one to see if I liked it as much. I’ve only used it once so haven’t formed a proper opinion on it but it feels quite soft and not bristly like other cheap brushes can do. Buy here and here.

Makeup Revolution Awesome Metals Eye Foil in ‘Black Diamond’, £0 – Yep, this was free. I took advantage of an offer on at TAMBeauty.com where you could spend £30 to get a free mystery bag and this was one of the goodies inside. I have the Rose Gold one as well which I really like but have yet to try this one.

Makeup Revolution The One Blush Stick in ‘x’, £0 – This was another freebie and although it’s marketed as a blush stick, this is so pale (even for me) that I’ll have to use it as highlighter. It’s a pale pink and looks so easy to use.

Makeup Revolution Mono Eyeshadow in ‘Naive’, £0 – the final mystery item (the rest I’ve put towards a giveaway) was this little neutral matte eyeshadow, which is a perfect colour for setting eye primer and providing a base for other shadows. It means I no longer have to dig out another palette if the one I’m using doesn’t include a ‘base’ shade.

Makeup Revolution Smokey Eyeliner, £2.50 – I wanted a black eyeliner for tightlining and I hadn’t found anything that would stay put without smudging off or just disappearing until this waterproof liner. It stays put all day and night on my waterline, which is perfect, especially for the price. Buy here and here.

Makeup Revolution Rose Gold Lipstick in ‘Inspiration’, £3 – Because of course I needed another nude lipstick! This is a really lovely proper nude and looks great with a darker lipstick or lipliner to lighten the centre of your lips or on its own for a perfect nude lip. I love the formula and the longevity of it. Buy here and here.

Makeup Revolution Renaissance Lipstick in ‘Rebirth’, £4 – I love the Renaissance lipsticks formula so I obviously had to pick another one up! This is a beautiful terracotta red and is basically the ultimate Autumn lip colour. I’m looking forward to wearing it every day! Buy here and here.

Primark Lipliner in ‘Toffee’, £1 – It’s no secret that I love the Primark Lipliners – they’re my favourite formula (and that’s including Kylie’s); they are so creamy and pigmented and I want one in each colour (I think I’m nearly there). This is a really 90s toffee brown.

Primark Brow Pencil in ‘Medium’, £2 – I really enjoy trying new brow products so when I saw this pencil in Primark I snapped it up. This is the perfect colour for me as it’s a warm-toned fairly dark brown and it matches my hair completely. Considering the price, this is so creamy and pigmented… just like the lipliner.

Primark Velvet Matte Lip Crayon in ‘Dulce de Leche’, £2 – I go on about the Primark Lip Crayons in what seems like every other blog post, but they are my favourite lip products of all time. So affordable but so good! This is a caramel nude and is part of Primark’s Autumn collection.

New Look No-Shine Mattifying Foundation in ‘Porcelain’, £7.99 – I’ve heard really great things about this foundation but when I tested it I found that it wasn’t very high coverage or that mattifying. It was a decent enough foundation but not exactly what I expected. It reminded me of the Primark one, which was £3.

New Look Brush-on Brows in ‘Medium’, £4.99 – This is a cheaper alternative to the Benefit Gimme Brow as it has the same sort of selling point in that it has fibres and pigment to make the brows look fuller. I don’t like this as much as the Gimme Brow but it’s still pretty nice and way more affordable. New Look often has a 2 for 1 offer on Beauty so have a look for that before you buy!
