HOW TO WEAR: GLITTER LIPS

Welcome to How To Wear, where I take products a little out-of-the-ordinary and show you how you can wear them every day! Glitter lipstick probably sounds uncomfortable  to apply and a messy makeup choice, but you can easily make the trend into an easy, wearable, fun look!

CHOOSING YOUR GLITTER

There are lipsticks that contain glitter already, or you can use loose glitter pigment and press onto an existing lipstick. If you’re choosing loose glitter, make sure it’s cosmetic grade rather than for crafts, as the edges of the glitter should be smooth enough so that it won’t cut your lips and needs to be fine enough to not be rough or ‘3D’ to touch. Different styles of glitter lip-looks will need different lip products. If you prefer a subtle glitter, go for a shimmery lipstick (flashback to my teen years, buying Rimmel’s Heather Shimmer), if you want a liquid lipstick, try Ciate’s new Glitter Flip lippies and if you want a full-on glitter look, try some loose glitter pressed over a gloss or lipliner.

SO SUBTLE

Testing @aritaum_official Unique Magic🦄 collection with their liquid eye shadow on the lips today! Twinkle Eye Shiner in 01 "Sparkling Honey" combined with @16.brand "Pink ade" lip tint for a #rosegold effect. Also the cushion I chose was the @troiareuke_korea H+ cushion because it's the closest of their 3 cushions to my actual skin tone and I wanted the moist healing properties in that formula today. . . . . . . #lips #lipstick #makeupaddict #makeuptime #beautyblogger #palegirl #maquillaje #colourpop #glassesgirl #kbeautyaddict #beauty #rasianbeauty #redlips #blogdebelleza #glitterlips #skincareblogger #clearskin #pinupgirl #pinupstyle #bigeyes #foundation #glowingskin #motd #kbeautyblogger #구성하다 #아름다움 #bloggerdebelleza #uniquemagic

For an everyday, work-friendly look, take a dab of shimmery eyeshadow and dab it over the top of a lipstick in a similar shade for a less in-your-face glitter experience. You could also use a shimmery lipstick if you have one such as Heather Shimmer by Rimmel. If you use eyeshadow, you’ll have a huge range of colours to choose from, even if you only have one or two shimmery palettes!

LIQUID GLITTER

If you’re more of a liquid lipstick fan, there are a few matte/metallic-to-glitter lipsticks, like Ciate’s Glitterflip liquid lipsticks. The more you push your lips together, the more glitter appears. It’s a cool party trick as well as a cool lipstick!

GLOSSY

YOU GUYSSSSS, THE @glisten_cosmetics ✨ GLISSGLOSS ✨ HAS FINALLY LANDED ON MY DOORSTEP!!!! This little beauty is released 10/27/17 and I must tell you, it's REALLY nice. I've tested it for a bit today and I honestly feel like they've done such a great job with the formula, it's somehow thick but doesn't feel too heavy or sticky and I find that very comfortable! If you wanna purchase this baby when it releases, throw my code on there to get yourself a little 20% off (DITTE20) ✨✨ Ps. keep scrolling if you wanna see how excited I got receiving this, or if you just wanna see that I do actually have a full face and am not just an eye and a pair of lips 😂🙌🏻 Tell me in a comment if you're planning to get it! 😍😍 _________________________________ (In Denmark all posts using products sent to me from brands has to be marked as sponsored. There are tonnes of glitter glosses on the market, but if you don’t have one, you could mix loose glitter in with a clear gloss or even sporadically apply the glitter to the lips and top with the gloss. This can be as intense as you want it to be, but looks more reflective than anything so you can easily wear this as an everyday look.

OMBRE

This is my favourite look of them all. This looks tricky to do but is actually very simple! Simply blend two lipsticks into each other using your finger (similar shades work best) and coat the bottom half of the bottom lip with a contrasting yet complimentary colour. Coat with gloss and you’re finished! This is perfect for a party or for a fun experiment.

Although editorial makeup isn’t meant to be ‘wearable’, these two designs are. The dots of glitter can be done with a very similar colour to the lip colour underneath for a more subtle look or contrasted for a quirky vibe. The black and gold lip look is obviously not an everyday style, but you could use the same effect by applying a small amount of loose glitter on parts of the lips, rather than all over. Or go all-out and do extreme editorial looks – just make sure you post it on Instagram!

FESTIVAL

IMG_2374JPG

I wasn’t a fan of the Primark Glitter Lipkits but I do think they look cool for a festival, or a festival-inspired makeup look at least. All this lipkit contained was a lipliner, glittery lipgloss and some loose glitter so you can definitely recreate it without buying a specific lipkit – just press some loose glitter onto a gloss or lip-safe glue and top with more gloss and you’re good to go for a whole day of partying (except maybe don’t eat anything if you don’t want crunchy glitter in your mouth).

How do you like to wear glittery lips?
